Digital filters come in two varieties, Infinite Impulse Response (IIR) and Finite Impulse Response (FIR). IIR filters can be optimized for time-domain performance; they can have less ringing, overshoot, and pre-echo than FIR types. This makes them ideal for processing waveforms with steep attacks—like musical transients. IIR filters, however, have less than ideal frequency-domain characteristics. Conversely, FIR filters exhibit excellent frequency-domain behavior but generally offer poor time-domain performance. Virtually all CD players and digital processors use FIR filters. Squarewaves subjected to an FIR filter are afflicted with classic overshoot and ringing called Gibbs' Phenomenon; the FIR filter's impulse response shows such time-domain distortion as pre- and post-echo. The solution to this quandary is to use both types of filters. In the IDAT, a detector looks at the nature of the audio signal and directs the digital audio data to the filter best suited for that type of signal. Musical components that are fairly continuous in level with no transients are routed to the FIR filter; signals with steep leading edges are sent to the IIR filter. The two filters' outputs are then combined and output to the DACs. The musical signal is thus processed by the optimum filter type for that kind of signal. The word "Intelligent" in Intelligent Digital Audio Translator refers to the detector that recognizes the type of signal and routes it to the appropriate filter. This detector, which is implemented in software and held in EPROM (Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) chips, is the subject of a patent application. When I look at the IDAT's bench performance, it will be interesting to examine its squarewave shape and frequency response. А DAC с поддержкой 24/196? Если только 16/44, то рекомендую купить ART Legato (http://www.ar-t.co/LEGATO.html) — это такой Berkeley Alpha USB, только для old-school ЦАПов. Там тоже хорошо организованное питание от розетки и клок отличного качества. Что в Legato, что в Berkeley Alpha USB используется технология Streamlength Asynchronous USB code от Гордона Ранкина (Wavelength). Везде враги, да, тяжело так Вам жить. Вы за себя отвечайте, не за всех. Вы пишите по-русски, тогда я пойму. Это у Вас тяжелые впечатления? Лично вы Qb9 слушали? А Протон? А в какой системе? А долго? А в сравнении с чем? Это Вам лишь из цены все понятно? Покажите валяющийся Протон!? А от какой цены начинают метить высоко?

Это Вы сами слушали Протон или QB9? От QB9 был в восторге Stereophile, даже товаром 2010 года назвал.

Это перепечатка из Absolute Sound I used the DP1’s analog inputs to compare the Weiss DAC 202 with the DP1. Once more A/B comparisons took longer to switch than I would like—programs had to be shut down and reopened along with confirming the MIDI settings. But despite the delays it was clear that the DP1 was almost in the same league as the Weiss. Both did a superb job of illuminating the entire soundstage and placing instruments accurately. The Weiss produced a slightly larger overall soundstage, but the DP1 was equally well focused. Harmonically the two DACs were very similar, both with well-defined low bass and vividly dynamic contrast. At times I preferred the DP1, due in large part to its slightly lower noise floor. But the Weiss had extensive handicaps—I had to use its single-ended outputs rather than the balanced analog output. Plus there was additional cabling and analog circuitry and connections inside the DP1. So, I wouldn’t go so far as to say the DP1 was the Weiss DAC 202’s equal, but it was closer than I expected.

Главное the Proton's basic functions are powered by the 5V that appears on the USB port, while the critical analog side of the Wolfson DAC chip is powered by the above-mentioned lithium-ion battery Compared to the more expensive machines with which I've spent time—the Ayre Acoustics QB-9 and the above-mentioned Wavelength Cosecant—the Proton was a bit less dynamic and dramatic. Когда у меня был Bidat, то поробовать фичу регулировки не было возможности. Рома и последователи заклеймили качество преда, но что аудиофилу — смерть, то слушателю музыки — благодать. Вот, что пишет человек не из кружка Ромы — «It has the unique corded volume control that varies the DAC reference voltage to raise or lower the volume. To my knowledge only the Empirical Audio DAC has been able perfect this means of volume control. I have used it to connect directly to Lamm and Jadis amps to stunning effect. The preamps it displaced were from Lamm and CAT, not exactly entry level gear.»
